Bio
One of the most stylish female riders to ever grace snowboarding, Kjersti Buaas is the owner of endless energy, positivity, and fun. She was voted "Queen of Style" by the readers of European shred magazine Onboard in 2004 - and for good reason. This Trondheim, Norway-born superstar is hard charging and always fully committed, with a silky smooth yet aggressive attack that's helped her push the envelope on both amplitude and trick level. Need proof? Simply reference her world-famous air-to-fakies at the 2002 Winter Olympics or the explosive 720 mute grabs that won her the 2009 U.S. Open Slopestyle.
Upkeeping a rich legacy of ripping Norwegian snowboarders, Ms. Buaas has already represented her country twice at the Olympic Games - her most recent Superpipe performance in Bardonecchia earning the prestigious bronze medal. She's also the proud owner of a brand-new Volvo XC60, a prize bestowed upon her after winning the Best Overall Performance Award at the 2009 European Open. According to Kjersti, "The car is running smooth, and I'm getting quite a few looks from people probably thinking, "You spoiled little brat driving daddy's car!"
Following an electric season of new tricks and podium finishes, Kjersti had knee surgery this past May after a huge crash in the Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth Mountain. She spent the summer back home in Trondheim studying for University and getting her knee back into shape, which entailed intense workout and studying sessions followed by serious chilling sessions with her boyfriend and family. As relentless as she is talented, Kjersti is approaching this season tanned and toned, with a new lust for life and appreciation of the amazing gift that is snowboarding.
