Quiksilver Night Rail Session – Night Moves!

Feb 10th, 2007

Beijing, CHINA – Hundreds of people joined us at the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park for the 3rd annual Quiksilver Night Rail Session.  The areas top riders were all present and they were on fire as they took to the park, lit up by floodlights that could be seen for miles.  Spectators from near and far joined us to cheer them on as they jibbed, destroyed and got their grind on in this rail only jam event.

We got the party started around 8pm as the crowd made their way up to the freshly shaped park.  Beats were already bumping as DJ Wordy threw on some old school tracks to hype up the riders.  The copious amounts of free beer fueled the crowd into a frenzy and the fireworks displays were off the hizzy.  Can I sound any more cliché?

But let’s be serious for a minute.  Using the Quiksilver Night Rail Session as an example, we can seriously take a look at the progression of the Chinese snowboard scene.  From the first year, where only about 40 people came to check it out (even with the promise of free alcohol) to tonight’s giant crowd.  The crowd was a mix of local Miyunren who came out to see what all the fuss was about to a group of riders who came all the way from Russia.

Back to the subject.  The riders had 90 minutes to throw down their sickest moves in a jam format contest.  Each obstacle was worth one grand prize for the best trick.  First up was the Flat Down where Quiksilver own Andrew Wilde took home a limited edition Yeti Watch for a sick 270 on 270 off.  Li Xian Yi was the ruler of the Fun Box with his Butter-on 270-off.  Next up was the Quik Mian Bao Che where Ming Ming flawlessly executed a FS 3 and Wanglei of course was recognized for doing sick tricks all over the park.  To name a few, he cleared the entire A-box, Front flip 50-50’d the Fun Box and did a 180 on-180 off of the picnic tables.  Also, special recognition went to our Russian friends for their night moves in the park, they get to share a one of a kind Danny Kass Gnu Board.

The ladies were also in top form.  Yindi took over the top prize for her BS Boardslides and Mary, Bo-Yee and Cui Shuang were all showing us what they got and tied for second place.  Everyone had a fabulous time and we really could not have asked for a better night.  A special thanks to our sponsors Quiksilver, Nokia, Dakine, Deeluxe and Gibson.  Word up, homies!

Beijing, CHINA– What do you get when you combine China’s finest terrain park, a bunch of light, free beer and a DJ?  The Quiksilver Night Rail Session!

As the end of the 2006/07-snowboard season gets closer and closer, riders and spectators’ get yet another chance to come out to the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park for by far the best night to ever hit the Chinese slopes.  On this special night, everyone’s a winner, only some walk away with some of the best gear on the market.

Here’s how it all goes down.  The contest formally kicks off at 8pm and shredders get about an hour to hit the park and show their stuff.    Riders are gauged based on the hoots and holla’s of the crowd, who will be fueled with all the free beer they can muster….or until we run out (which ever comes first).  Each obstacle is worth a sick prize, from a new Nokia mobile phone over Quiksilver steeze (Quiksilver limited edition watch “the yeti”, normally not available in China folks!) and a brand new Gnu “Danny Kass Pro Model” (also  the only one of these nice boards in China), the Mellow China team is hooking you up!

So, grab your board (and your cheering team) and get yourself to the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park this February 10th for the biggest party of the year!

Oh, and for those of you who don’t wanna go home after the party…we keep on partying in one of the cottages at Nanshan! Karaoke!!!!

The Quiksilver Night Rail Session is brought to you in part by Nokia, Deeluxe, Dakine and Gibson.  See you there!
